The Elizabethan facade and stone structure make for a visually striking building, standing proudly against the fine backdrop of the sea. Hidden gardens filled with quirky animals, including a falabella pony and a llama, add a charming touch to the expansive cliff-side grounds.
The lack of a proper shower setup-just a handheld sprayer without a curtain-may be a hassle if you're not keen on wet floors. Some rooms have cramped areas for tea and coffee making with poor lighting, and the plumbing in certain spots could definitely use a modern touch. If you're used to contemporary comforts, the overall vibe leans more towards vintage, which could be a turn-off for some, given the shared bathrooms on the upper floor.

A decent option for a brief retreat in Ventnor with very good value for money. The breakfast was delicious, especially the freshly cooked traditional English spread. If you're looking for a cozy, characterful place, don't expect modern amenities.

The amazing Elizabethan facade stands out against the azure sky, showcasing the hotel's historical significance. The extensive cliff-top gardens are a delight, populated with charming animals like ponies and llamas, and lead to secluded beaches perfect for explorers seeking tranquility.
Inconsistent WiFi makes staying connected tricky, with spots where signal is virtually non-existent. The plumbing bears a retro feel, lacking modern fixtures, with some bathrooms offering only the option of a tub rather than an actual shower. The shared bathroom situation on the top floor can be uncomfortable, particularly for families seeking more privacy. Access to the nearest bus stop involves a hilly trek that might not suit everyone, especially after dark when poorly-lit paths may be intimidating. The temperature in the rooms can fluctuate, so be prepared for a bit of warmth during hotter days.

I enjoyed the historic charm of Lisle Combe. The Elizabethan facade is fine against the bright blue sky. The house has so much character, filled with fascinating artifacts and beautiful period furniture. I loved exploring the extensive gardens-they reminded me of a step back in time. It was nice to have a comfortable family room, complete with charming decor and plenty of books to read. Breakfast in the elegant dining hall was a highlight, with a good selection of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I appreciated the warm and friendly service from the owners. The lack of consistent WiFi was a bit frustrating, and the shared bathroom situation could be improved. The lighting was not great around the tea and coffee area in our room. Although the distance to the nearest bus stop is manageable, it can be challenging for those less fit, especially with the hilly terrain.
